Patricia Lynn DiMeo's Obituary
Patricia Lynn DiMeo, 65, of Gainesville, FL died on August 3, 2022. She was born to Grace and Frank DiMeo on April 15, 1957, in Newfoundland, Canada, where her father was stationed in the U.S. military.
Patricia attended elementary school in France during her father’s military career. She graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in Miami, FL, and from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, followed by a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 1981. She then began her 40-year career as a speech therapist working at elementary schools in Ft. Lauderdale, Gainesville and surrounding communities, Cocoa Beach, and Palm Coast.
For the last 11 years of her career, she worked at Trenton Elementary School in Trenton, FL where she was a beloved colleague and valued member of the academic team. She was devoted to her work, the support and mentoring of others, and loved her fellow teachers and staff, and all of the children whose lives she deeply touched.
Patricia always brought the kindest and most optimistic spirit and was a joy to be around. She gave so much of herself to others and participated in many charitable activities in the Gainesville area.
Patricia found great happiness in celebrations with friends and family, being by the ocean, attending plays at the Hippodrome Theatre, and listening to music, especially when her many musician friends were playing. She loved her family and her friends and lived life to the fullest. Patricia was formerly married to Rob Peck. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Grace and Frank DiMeo. Patricia is survived by her sister, Pamela DiMeo, and by her cousins and their loving families: Jane Adair and Grace Adair Willis of Gainesville, Tom, Jim, and Bob McConnaughey, and John DiMeo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Girl’s Place, Inc. in Gainesville (https://girlsplace.net/#donate) or another organization supporting children.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at a later date.
