Pansy Gibson Post's Obituary
Pansy Gibson Post, a woman of grace, wisdom, and steadfast devotion, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She was lovingly cared for in her final days by her devoted friend and caretaker, Levita Barrios, her cherished son, Pat, and her beloved daughter-in-law, Jacqueline.
Born on December 9, 1929, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Pansy lived a life marked by intellect, perseverance, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald McKenzie Post, whom she married on November 26, 1952, and with whom she shared a life of enduring partnership and love.
Pansy’s brilliance shone early. A proud graduate and valedictorian of Tarpon Springs High School in 1947, she went on to pursue higher learning with passion and purpose. She graduated from Stetson University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, where she was a devoted Delta Kappa Gamma sorority sister. She continued her studies at the University of Florida, earning her Master’s degree in Psychology and Education, and proudly carried the bonds of sisterhood as a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
Her calling as an educator shaped generations. From her years as an elementary school teacher to her distinguished leadership as principal and administrator, Pansy dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and hearts of children. Even after retirement, she found new purpose in guiding Martha Manson Academy, now Oak Hall School, where her vision and steady leadership left a lasting legacy.
Pansy is survived by her son, Patrick McKenzie Post, and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline R. Thomas, who will forever honor her with love and gratitude. She is also remembered by her extended family, including her cousin, Bert Walker, along with countless colleagues, friends, and students who felt the imprint of her wisdom and kindness.
A woman of faith, intelligence, and quiet humor, Pansy lived nearly a century with dignity, warmth, and a heart open to others. Her life was a testament to the power of education, service, and enduring love.
A viewing will be held to honor her life on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, Florida 32669.
Though Pansy has departed this world, her light endures—in the lives she shaped, the lessons she taught, and the family who will carry her spirit forward.
