Pansy Cone Hawes' Obituary
Pansy Cone Hawes, a long time Gainesville resident passed away on February 7, 2016 at the age of 95 peacefully at her home. Born in Starke, FL July 19, 1920, she was the daughter of Robert Cone and Mary Alice Sapp Cone. She spent her childhood years in Starke and attended school there. Later she lived in Gainesville and attended Gainesville High School.
On October 15, 1950, she married Thomas J. Hawes (T.J.). They were married for 59 years until his death in 2009. They owned the Chrysler dealership in Gainesville for over 50 years and during their years together they traveled over the world.
Pansy was an avid golfer and bridge player. She loved flowers and seemed the have a green thumb. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She delighted in entertaining family and friends at their homes on Swan Lake, Melrose, FL and at the Gainesville Country Club. She was always a happy, interesting person to be around and loved to laugh and have fun. She was a former member of the Gainesville Garden Club and The Gainesville Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J., son, Thomas C. Hawes, and brothers, Elton Cone and Carl Cone. She is survived by daughter, Deborah H. Pearce (Bob), Fruit Cove, FL, granddaughter, Erin Leigh Pearce, New York, NY, and a special nephew Bill Cone (Alice), Piperton, TN.
The Hawes family would like to thank her care givers from Comfort Keepers for their loving and faithful care, and also the staff of Hospice for their care.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to your favorite charity.
