Mr. Owen Sykes' Obituary
Owen Sykes, age 91 of Cross Creek, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013. He was born May 31, 1922 in Waresboro, Georgia to Ernest Paul and Grace Aline King Sykes. A veteran of three wars, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy and retired after 30 years of service. A Christian and a Mason, he was a respected member of the community.
He was preceded in death by his one true love, June Bryant Sykes, in 2011. He is survived by his children, Donna Sorensen, Janice (Larry) Bell, Bill (Glenda) Sykes, Bonnie Holland and Beverley (Neil) Mayhew; sisters, Janice Curren, Joyce Jacobson and Alice Martin; brother, Hugh Sykes; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME HAWTHORNE, US 301 South at Lake Avenue. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Lochloosa with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends Friday, November 29, 2013, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
