Opal Frances Joyner's Obituary
Opal Frances Joyner, 90 yrs old of Gainesville passed away April 11, 2023. She was born December 17, 1932 in Winter Garden, FL to Henry and Zella Sawley Dean.
She was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Zella Dean, her husband, Edward "Red" Joyner, sister, Irene Moody, son, Edward "Ernie" Hyder, daughter, Martha (Patrick) Wright.
She is survived by daughter, Nancey Joyner and son, Billy Hyder; grandchildren, Cammie (Scott) Weir, Jeffery Joiner, Beckey Straughn, Autumn Hyder, and Ashleigh (Travis) Booth; 13 Great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren and many church family and friends.
Opal retired from Shands as a nursing assistant after 30 plus years. She was a very active member of Oak Park Baptist church of Gainesville. She loved working in her yard and loved to bake. She was an avid football fan. Go Gators and Minnesota Vikings. Opal loved spending time with her family and above all she loved God.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Meadows East, 3700 SE Hawthorne Rd., with Pastor Danny Austin. For those who wish, donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32606.
