Olin L. Hess' Obituary
Olin L. Hess, age 96 of Gainesville, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hess was born March 15, 1919 in Abilene, Kansas to Ira and Mabel Hoover Hess. He worked as a general contractor in building construction. Mr. Hess sang with the Montgomery Quartet, was past President of the Martinsmill Bridge Association and was a lifelong church volunteer.
Mr. Hess was preceded in death by his wife, Nora J. Hess in 1994 and sister, Vera Sloop. He is survived by his children, Nancy Taylor (Melvin) of Greencastle, PA, James Hess (Clara) of Chiefland, FL and Galen Hess (Jean) of Lake Butler, FL and sister, Harriet Finkerbinder of Clearwater, FL; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services and burial will take place in Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 639 E. University Ave. Gainesville, FL 32601.
