Odessa L. Smith's Obituary
Odessa L. Smith passed away in Gainesville at Clare Bridge Nursing Home on February 15, 2019. She was 79 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred D. Smith and Pauline B. Smith. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Maurine Kirkland and two brothers, Bobby D. Smith and A. D. Smith, Jr.
She graduated from Santa Fe High School in Alachua in 1957 and went to Florida State University and graduated in 1962. She made her home in Clearwater, Florida where she taught high school children for 35 years. She loved teaching young children. She moved back home to Alachua in 2000, where she took care of her mother until she died in 2004.
She leaves behind four nephews, John David Smith, Bobby D. Smith, Jr., Danny Lucero, III, Lonnie Lester Smith, and seven nieces, Mary Ann Kirkland, Elizabeth J. Kirkland, Sonja Smith, Lorie Smith, Kathy Smith Fletcher, Donna Smith, and Mary Smith.
Arrangements and cremation are under care of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home. The immediate family will have a private ceremony and a monument placed at Newnansville Cemetery at the Smith lot.
