Noralyn C Jones' Obituary
Noralyn C Jones, 72, was born in Valdosta, Georgia and was a longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida and St Augustine, Florida. She passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her home with her family, following a long illness.
Noralyn (Nonna) was born on May 3, 1948 to the late James Stafford Caldwell and Nora Evelyn Scaff Caldwell. She grew up in Gainesville, Florida and married Carey V Jones. She then began an extraordinary life of wife, mother, grandmother, childcare expert and business entrepreneur. Her focus was always on her faith, family and the welfare of children. She founded and served as director and principal of private daycares, preschools and an elementary school in Gainesville. She served in several state and county childcare board and advisory positions over the years. Of course, Nonna loved Christmas; the spirit and the family rituals. She was happiest when doting on her own grandchildren and boy could she dote.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carey V Jones; two sons, W. Stafford Jones and his wife, Christie and Britton A. Jones and his wife, Susannah; two daughters, the late Carie Lynn Miller and Dawn S. Jones; and her seven grandchildren, Stephen, Brittany, Jenna, Chase, Camryn, Breanna, and Riley. She is also survived by her mother, Nora Evelyn, four sisters, Jamie, Connie, Glenda and Susan along with nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family galore. Hearts are aching. Noralyn is sorely missed by her family and all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Haven Hospice caregivers for their amazing concern, care and service given in the hour of need.
A Celebration of Life gathering for Noralyn will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021 at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St. at 12:00 noon. This will be a casual dress, indoor / outdoor celebration with food and fellowship. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32609.
