Nicklaus J. "Nick" Minden, DMD's Obituary
Nicklaus J. “Nick” Minden, DMD, 77, of Gainesville, Florida, died Tuesday, February 7, 2023, following a short illness.
Dr. Minden, or Nick as he was known to friends and family, was born in Albany, Georgia on March 2, 1945, to the late Patricia Mock Minden and M/Sgt Nicholas J. Minden, U. S. Army Air Force, whose plane went down in the China Theater in October of 1946 and never met his young son. Patricia later married, Dr. Donald Benton, Sr, a devoted stepfather to Nick. He attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine and practiced in Macon, Georgia before joining the faculty at the College of Dentistry at the University of Florida in 1988, where he remained, retiring as Associate Professor Emeritus in 2014. Our beloved “Professor” enjoyed boating along the Gulf coast and traveling, throughout the United States and Europe. Dr. Minden was a longtime member of the Queen of Peace Catholic community and had recently attended Holy Faith Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Catherine Minden; by one sister, Clare (Chuck) Pollock; and two brothers, Dr. Donald (Kay) Benton and Michael ( Rita) Benton, all of Macon, GA; sister-in-law, Tressa Mixon, of Harlem, GA; nephews, Dr. Bryan (Lauren) Benton, of Savannah, GA and Cole Benton, of Macon, GA; a niece, Burney (Will) Marshall, of Macon, GA; his honorary daughter Mollie (David) Henry and her children, Joe, Kate and Alex who loved him as a grandfather, all of Nashville, TN.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:00 A. M., in the Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville with Fr. Jose Kulathinal, celebrant. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A. M, at the church.
