Nicholas J. Gonzalez's Obituary
Nicholas J. Gonzalez, 61, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully at Shands Hospital on June 24, 2025.
Born on October 17, 1963, to Nicholas Sr. and Helen Gonzalez in the Bronx, New York, Nick, and his family moved to Gainesville in the late 1970’s. Nick then went on to graduate from Gainesville High School in the year 1981.
Nick was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas J Gonzalez Sr.
He is survived by his wife Charlene, children Heather, Nicholas, Christopher, and his grandchildren Zoe and CJ. He was also survived by his mother, Helen Gonzalez, his sisters, Judy, Aurie, Helen and Jeanette as well as his brothers-in-law Eric and Barry and his nieces and nephews.
Nick was beloved, respected, and admired by all who knew him and all he came to meet. Nick managed to brighten the day of anyone he met and left an undeniable impression on them. Nick’s compassion was not only present in his social life but also in his work. Nick enjoyed his work at Wiles Elementary School, leaving everlasting impressions on its students and faculty. Although Nick cared so strongly for others, his family remained the most important aspect of his life. Nick enjoyed camping with his wife and son as well as visiting the other members of his family.
Nick is being cremated and will be buried next to his father, Nicholas Sr., in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wiles Elementary School Special Education Department.
