Newton Hicks' Obituary
Newton Hicks, age 78 of Melrose, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. Newton was born May 22, 1938 in Pinemount, Florida to Ashley William and Hattie Lee Spivey Hicks. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and shooting pool. Newton was a family man and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Newton is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose Hicks; sons, James Hicks and Jason (Marie) Hicks; grandchildren, William and Alexandra Hicks; step-sister, Mary Meza and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Wilford and Lee Hicks and sister, Myrtis Payne.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Eliam Baptist Church with Rev. Art Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Eliam Baptist Church, 6009 Hampton Street, Melrose, FL 32666 or Orange Heights Baptist Church, 16700 NE State Road 26, Hawthorne, FL 32640.
