Neil Nelms' Obituary
Neil Nelms, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, surrounded by family. Born Hubert Neil Nelms on June 18th, 1960, in Leesburg, Florida, Neil lived a life rich in love, commitment, and community.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Neil shared a beautiful 43-year marriage with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Renee Nelms (Mullins). Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and enduring friendship.
He is survived by his cherished family: daughter Danielle Redmond and her husband, Tim; son Brian Nelms and his wife, Cristina (Roca); and two beloved grandchildren, Vaughn and Camila “CC.” Neil’s family was the heart of his world, and he took immense pride in each of them.
Neil spent the majority of his career as a restaurant manager, guiding his teams with kindness, resilience, and dedication. Known for his work ethic and warmth, he made an impact at every stop along the way. Outside of work, Neil’s love for sports shone brightly. For over a decade, he officiated local high school football, bringing his passion for the game to the field and building lasting connections within his community.
Neil’s legacy of love, dedication, and kindness lives on through his family and all those he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, with Rev. Chuck Padgett officiating.
