Ned W. Pierce's Obituary
Ned W. Pierce age 78 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born April 18, 1935 in Kinston, AL to John and Molly Free Pierce. Ned served his country in the United States Army and worked as a Research Technician for the the United States Department of Agriculture Bureau of Insect Research. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alachua since 1989. Ned was an avid Gator baseball and basketball fan and loved Alabama football. He enjoyed growing daylilies and gardening.
Mr. Pierce is preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Diane Pierce.
He is survived by his wife Lurline Butler Pierce; brother, Roy Pierce of Jonesboro, GA.; sisters, Dolly Laney of Montgomery AL, and Earnestine Sexton of Huntsville, AL and many nieces and nephews. A special Thanks to Carol Batton and great great nephew, Ward Batton.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1:00PM in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street with Rev. Lamar Albritton officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park West. Family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00PM prior to service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home, 51 Main St, Deltona, FL 32725.
