I just found out today that my second cousin Natalie had passed away almost two years ago to the day. I visited the cemetery today and saw her marker and was saddened to learn she had passed. I remember her fondly when I was a youngster and she lived in Washington Heights. I used to spend time at her bungalow in Monticello in the 1950s and she was always a gracious host and a warm, welcoming person. She had a gruffness about her, kind of like Rhoda on TV, but she was very loving nevertheless. I recall that she was a smoker and that's probably what made her sound that way. I also remember her from visits to my Aunt Katie and Uncle Harry's apartment in the Bronx near Yankee Stadium. Cousin Natalie was the last of that generation, as my mother Lydia had preceded her in death almost 20 years ago. I miss them all very much to this day.
