Nap lost his battle against complications from a massive stroke in August 2023. By the grace of God Nap survived the stroke, went through rehabilitation and therapy sessions which he enjoyed and even shared with them his sense of humor. The second stroke on February 6, 2024, took a toll on his body. Nap was a fighter and fought hard until his last moments.
Surrounded by his family at the time of his passing, Nap is survived by his wife TITA Garcia of 45 years, children: Napoleon Garcia Jr. of Westborough CA ( Wanda), Josh Garcia of South Carolina (Barbie), Jerome Garcia of Vacaville CA (Ella), Adrienne Garcia Davila of Williston FL (Rudy) and 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Alex, Lucas, Julienne, Benson, Jomel, Jerrick, Jonah, Ellie, Zoe, and Olivia, and 1 great grandson Darin and his sister Venus Garcia Alfonso.
Nap was predeceased by his son Jason Garcia, his father Teddy Garcia, his mother Isabel Arellano Garcia, his brothers Manong, Alex, Tony and Joe and sisters Rose, Lally and Melly and his one and only beautiful Shih Tzu – Foofoo.
Napoleon A. Garcia was born on January 10, 1945, in Calasiao, Pangasinan Philippines to the late US Army Veteran Teodorico “Teddy” Garcia and late Isabel A. Garcia. Nap came to the United States at a young age through his father Teddy Garcia and spent most of his younger years in San Francisco CA. He worked for Crowley Maritime Corporation in Computer Operations for many years, loved Crowley and decided to be relocated to Florida during Crowley’s move to the east coast in 1998.
While vacationing in the Philippines in December 1977, Nap met his wife TITA Samonte Garcia in Manila Philippines through Tita’s cousin the late Rudy Tobias. They got engaged and married in just 4 months on April 27, 1978, and the rest is history!
In early 2000, Nap and his wife TITA gave themselves to the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and his journey began with dedicating his life to God. He wakes up early in the morning reads his Bible and recites his verses for 2 hours or more. He shared Bible books to his siblings and would talk to them about how God has transformed his life to be a better person than he was before getting to know Jesus. He would share his love for Jesus to anyone, when given the opportunity. Up until his last moments, Nap would recite Psalm 23, John 3:16 among others and his favorite Scripture is Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you”! God is his first love, his family next and finally golf.
Through the years, Nap enjoyed playing golf, watching boxing and most of all spending time with his family. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother in Christ, uncle and friend. He’s known to make you smile, laugh with his jokes, a very compassionate man of God and makes people feel at ease with him. Nap retired in 2010 and yet that didn’t stop him from working part-time at Publix at the Plantation Plaza in St Johns Fl (Jacksonville) and work for Julington Creek Golf and Country Club.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 N.W. 143 street Newberry, FL. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
