Nancy Anderson's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Anderson announces her passing on February 8, 2019 at the Orange Park Haven Hospice center at the age of 81 years old. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her children, James N. Anderson IV of Jacksonville, Florida and his wife, Kellie, Victoria Anderson Ortiz of Murietta, California and her husband, John, Jonathan Anderson of San Diego, California and his wife, Shannon and Michael Anderson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and his wife, Tammy. Nancy will also be forever remembered by her five grandchildren, Katherine Anderson, Alexandria Anderson, Andrew Justice, Sydney Anderson and Conner Anderson; her sister, Dorothy Garnett and husband, Bernard of Gainesville, FL and her sister, Cathy Capello and husband, John of Silver Springs, Nevada. She will also be greatly missed by her niece and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Nesbitt Anderson III.
A native of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Nancy spent the last 59 years as a resident of Gainesville, Orange Park, Melrose, and Jacksonville, Florida. Nancy attended Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Florida. She was an accomplished fine art artist who practiced her gift from early childhood until the later years of her life. She pursued her dream of exposing children to art by establishing The Art School in Orange Park, FL in the 1970s. Nancy was a member of the Jacksonville Artist Guild, as well as the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Nancy also cofounded the Melrose Art Gallery in historic Melrose, FL.
Nancy will be remembered for her artistic abilities, but will mostly be remembered by her family and friends as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and as a giving and compassionate person who enjoyed serving others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2:00pm in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with a reception to follow.
