Mr. Glen "Sappo" Sapp's Obituary
Mr. Glen Michael “Sappo” Sapp, 60, lifelong resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Monday, May 23, 2022, in the E. T. York Haven Hospice Care Center, following a long illness.
Mr. Sapp was born on July 15, 1961, in Gainesville, Florida. He worked in Gainesville for most of his life, working in industrial cleaning and delivery work. Sappo, as he was known to his friends, had several loves in his life, racing, especially NASCAR, Jaguars and Gator Football, he loved cooking and making dream catchers, he loved music, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd and Tom Petty. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Steve Riley.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kristina Sapp and Ashley (Markeith) Starks, both of Lake City; his father, Jimmy Sapp, of Alachua; his mother, MaryAnn Riley, of Gainesville; one sister, Sheri Sheehan, of Hawthorne; four grandchildren, Marley Ann Starks, London Starks, Sa’mya Starks and Markeith Starks, Jr.; a niece, Rachel Sheehan, of Hawthorne; and his former wife, Ginny Sapp, of Lake City, along with many beloved cousins and other extended family.
There will be a Celebration of Life service held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 10:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville, with Elder Daniel Thomas and Pastor Jim Elliott, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park East. To keep with Glen’s easy-going nature, the family has asked that all of those attending the service to please dress casual in his honor.
