Mitchell Lee Byrd's Obituary
Mitchell Lee Byrd, age 86, was reunited with his wife in heaven on Sunday, October 4, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born October 1, 1934 in Azalia, Indiana to Charles Mitchell and Ethel Cohee Byrd.
Mitchell was born and raised in Indiana, until Mitchell and his beloved wife Bernice moved the family to Florida in 1971. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He retired from the University of Florida as a small engine’s mechanic. He will be truly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Byrd.
He is survived by children, Ronnie Byrd (Mary) and Teresa Geer (Lannie); niece, Penny Sue Byrd; 3 grandchildren, Kevin Byrd, Justin Byrd and Alanna Geer; 5 great grandchildren, Kaylin, Jacob, Masen, Harper and Olivia.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 12, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday October 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Meadows East with military honors. For those who wish donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
