Miriam "Beverly" Bleiweis' Obituary
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Miriam “Beverly” Bleiweis. She passed away peacefully in Gainesville, Florida on February 9th, 2023.
Beverly was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 14th, 1931 to her parents Esther and Samuel Werbov. Bev was a proud and glamorous New Yorker her entire life, even though she moved across the country several times. Beverly held many jobs throughout her life. She worked in long-term care, retail and as a secretary, but it was unequivocal that her most important role was that of mother, wife and caretaker.
She met her husband, Sol Bleiweis, in Brooklyn in the 1960’s. Beverly dedicated decades to raising her kids and taking care of her family. The Bleiweis family relocated to Westfield, New Jersey, where they lived for 17 years. The family then picked up and moved across the country to Southern California, where they lived for almost 20 years. Sol and Bev then moved to Gainesville, FL, where they eventually retired close to family. Bev and Sol were married for 58 years before Sol’s passing in 2020.
Beverly was the rock and matriarch of her family. Her pure, loving soul made her kitchen the meeting spot for family and friends. She touched all who were in her orbit with love, kindness and compassion. She is survived by Mark (and Jennifer) Bleiweis, Glenn (and Georgia) Bleiweis, Shari (and Steve) Goldstein and Bonnie (and Dominick) Fimiano. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at B’nai Israel Cemetery wit Rabbi Berl Goldman and Rabbi David Kaiman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends make donations to one of the following: the Chabad Jewish Center at the University of Florida, https://www.chabad.org/ or Congregation Bnai Israel, of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Florida, https://www.bnaigainesville.com/.”
