Minerva Alfred's Obituary
Mrs. Minerva Alfred, 87, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, following a long illness.
Mrs. Alfred was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on September 10, 1933. She came to the Gainesville in 1981, where she was a very active and longtime member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic community, working in many areas of the ministry. Mrs. Alfred loved gardening, particularly her roses, whom she lovingly referred to as her “babies”. She was preceded in death by her son, Ewald Pierre Alfred in 1983.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Occelus Alfred; one daughter, Marie N. Alfred, and son-in-law, Jackson Beauregard; a granddaughter, Marie C. Alfred; grandson, Daniel Alfred-Beauregard; great grandchild, George Alfred; three sisters, Winie (Dr. Jean) Beaudouin, Ginette Bernard and Jacqueline Larsen; one brother, Leonel Barnard.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 10:00 A. M., in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Avenue, Gainesville, with Fr. Lawrence Peck, celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday, July 2, 2021, from 5 to 7 P.M., at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville.
