Michael "Mike" Lee Rush's Obituary
Michael “Mike” Lee Rush, age 83, passed away on July 8, 2025. He was born on December 14, 1941, in Walton, Indiana, to Maurice and Carmen Reid Rush.
Mike proudly served in the United States Air Force following his graduation from high school. After serving honorably for 8 years, he moved to Fanning Springs, FL. He later worked as a Control Board Operator for Florida Power Nuclear and Coal Plant for over twenty years. He spent the later years of his life in Bell, FL.
Mike had a passion for the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing and gardening. He was also an avid racing fan, racing at Bronson and Lake City tracks. And he especially enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Rush; the mother of his children, Betty Carol Rush; and his parents, Maurice and Carmen Reid Rush.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Kerri L. Avera (Lance); his brother, Randy Rush (Eunice); his sister, Anita Winston (Lou); and two beloved granddaughters, Ashton and Ella Avera. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 7070 SW Co Rd 334A, Trenton, with Dr. Don McGarity officiating. A reception will follow at the Family Life Center.
