Michael Lerner's Obituary
Michael Lerner, 73, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Monday, June 27, 2016 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Lerner was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 6, 1942 to the late David Lerner and Frances Zino. He moved to Gainesville and worked as a deputy for the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Joe Crevasse. He received his Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Florida, and then began a long career as a special education teacher all over north Florida. Mr. Lerner was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Community.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cecelia Anne Lerner; a daughter, Kathy Lerner, of Gainesville; his mother, Frances Zino, of Vancouver, Washington; a brother, Joseph Zino, Jr., of Vancouver, Washington; three grandchildren, Alanna, Nicholes and Alexa Schwartz.
Private family services will be held at a later date, and those who wish to make donations should do so to the local catholic school of your choice, or to the Alachua County Humane Society.
