Meena Pathi's Obituary
Meena Pathi, fondly named Zora, of Gainesville, FL, passed away January 4th, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born June 3rd, 1937 to Venkatarama Sastry and Alemelu Ammal of Chennai, India. She completed high school and, prior to marriage, she worked as a salesperson at Victoria Technical Institute, Chennai, India.
In addition to raising her family, she was an activist and served as president of the Social and Cultural Association of Ashok Nagar (SCAAN) and was responsible for several charitable causes through this organization, including voluntary blood donations and social work.
She was married to Mr. A.V. Pathi, on August 19th, 1962. They had 51 wonderful years of married life, in which they lived and traveled throughout India, England, the Middle East, and the USA. Following her husband’s demise, she emigrated in 2016 to the United States and lived in Gainesville, FL with her youngest daughter and her husband.
Although a devout Hindu, she was also non-denominational, respecting all religions. She prayed to her favorite lord Ganesha and Muruga, as well as Allah and Jesus.
She was a devoted and proud wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. She loved playing word puzzles, telling stories to entertain and teach her grandchildren, and had an unlimited supply of riddles.
She is survived by her three children, Swathi Sreenivasan, Anand Pathi, and Sukanya Sridhar, along with their respective spouses, Sreenivasan Thyagarajan, Sathya Anand, and Sridharan Gururangan; six grandchildren Suchin, Sachith, Sunjeev, Srijith, Dharshan, and Adharsh; three sisters, several nephews and nieces; and close friends. She was loved deeply by one and all.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9th 2021, at 2:30pm EST, in the William Thomas Funeral Home, located at 404 N Main St, Gainesville FL, 32601. The service will be broadcasted virtually via Zoom.
