Max Smith's Obituary
Max Smith, age 84 of Hawthorne passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at his home. He was born April 16, 1933 in Socastee Township of Horry County, South Carolina to Earnest and Edna Smith. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1955. He later retired from Central Florida Tile and Marble Company. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years as of July 12, 2017, Lois LaNell Smith of Hawthorne; daughter, Donna LaNell Smith Ray and her husband Jeffrey Ray of Lake City; grandchildren, Emily, Caleb, Joshua, and Timothy Ray; sister, Yvonne Tyler and her husband Ed of Myrtle Beach, SC, and brother, Wilford Smith of Desert Hot Springs, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Edna Smith, and daughter, Melissa LaNell Smith.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 818 Co Rd 20A, Hawthorne, with Rev. L. D. O’Steen, and Rev. Jeff Ray officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park East. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Haven Hospice, 6400 St Johns Ave, Palatka, FL 32177.
