Mattie "Yvonne" Lee Soper's Obituary
Mattie Lee Yvonne Soper, passed away at home surrounded by her family on her 82nd birthday Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Newberry, Florida.
She was born on May 11, 1939, in Baxley, Georgia to Julian Elmedge and Mary Virginia Cox Wood.
She was in the first graduating class at Sante Fe high school and played on the softball team, and later played in the city league.
Yvonne and her husband Larry loved to travel. At last count, they traveled to 18 countries and a couple of cruises along the way.
She was an avid bowler and received bowler of the year and was inducted into the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. She was very active over the years and served many positions in the Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed ceramics and Swedish Weaving.
Yvonne is survived by her husband of 59 years Larry, son, Larry Soper Jr of Palm Beach, daughter, Teri Reddig (Michael) Newberry, brothers, Jerry, and Larry Wood, grandchildren, Noah, and Jacob Reddig.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS WESTAREA 823 143rd street Newberry, Florida.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 15th, 2021, at Forest Grove Cemetery Alachua.
