Maryah Elizabeth Hernandez-Tang's Obituary
Maryah Elizabeth Hernandez-Tang, age 27, passed away on November 8, 2022. She was born on July 10, 1995, to Emanuel “Manny” Hernandez Sr., and Hilda Mojica Hernandez in Boca Raton, Florida.
Maryah was a sunflower in the lives of her loved ones. Like a sunflower, she followed the light, faced it head- on, and soaked up every ounce of warmth it had to offer her. She had a deep connection with reading, music, and dancing. Reading was a world she got lost in. She once said, “I am at my happiest when I read books because that’s the only time, I stop overthinking about everything.” You often could catch Maryah watching the food network and replicating some delicious recipes. Even though her eating was very limited over the years, she still expressed her love of cooking and baking with her family and friends.
Her strongest connection, however, was with her family. She often would shout to the world how much she loved her Mom and Dad. She proclaimed how they both pulled her through the darkest nights and lifted her up on the highest mountains. It comes as no surprise, her deep adoration for older brother Manny, a man whose heart was filled with unwavering faith and joyful devotion. He was a great light in her life, and she was intent on following him. The day she was accepted to his alma mater was one of the happiest in her family’s recollection.
Maryah was a person that radiated with personality and spirit. She just naturally, without trying, commanded a room with her love, openness, sass, and confidence. She had this beautiful way of making everyone she met, instantly feel like a friend, she just drew you in. She was such a deep thinker with a wicked sense of humor. She had so much enthusiasm to learn and her curiosity was infectious.
The sparkle in Maryah’s eyes has always shined so brightly. She had such a great love for this world and the earth we live in, always wanting to raise awareness and point out how we can be better humans! Our tiny freckle friend was never afraid to speak the truth.
In her own beautiful words: So maybe the world is a bit darker now because we lost the biggest light our life will ever see. And we won’t be okay for a long long time, if ever. This wound is deep, and the pain is beyond comparison. It hurts. It just hurts so much.
If God brings you to it, he will bring you through.
A celebration of Maryah’s life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at CampusView Church 2720 S.W. 2nd Ave Gainesville, FL. with Pastor Randy Scott. Though we need to weep your loss,
You dwell in that safe place in our hearts,
Where no storm or night or pain can reach you.
To enter each day with a generous heart.
To serve the call of courage and love
Until we see your beautiful face again
In that land where there is no more separation,
Where all the tears will be wiped from our mind,
And where we will never lose you again.
