Mary Ellen Nicholas' Obituary
Mary Ellen Nicholas, 56, of Gainesville, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Tampa, Florida. She was born on February 24, 1969, in Urbana, Illinois to James and Diane Nicholas.
Mary graduated from PK Yonge High School. She was an Alumna of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She was a yorkie lover and an avid equestrian. She was an advocate and volunteer for National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Mary is survived by her father, James Nicholas; sisters, Molly Nicholas and Betsy Nicholas; nephew, Ryan Nicholas; niece, Riley Knisley; her beloved yorkies, Angel and Ariel; and many close friends. She is predeceased by her mother, Diane Nicholas.
A gathering to honor Mary’s life will be held on June 6, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Williams Thomas Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St. Newberry, Florida 32669.
