Mary Frances Harrington McFarland's Obituary
Mary Frances Harrington McFarland, known to most as Frankie, passed away after a long illness on Monday September 11, 2017 at E.T. York Hospice House. She was 79.
She was born on June 25, 1938 to James T. and Jewett Harrington in Ft. White, then moved to Alachua shortly thereafter. Frankie was an elementary school teacher for 38 years; children were her passion. That passion carried over into raising her own children, and continued with her grandchildren. She believed that learning could be incorporated into every experience, no matter how simple or small. Frankie's unfailing love of family and never ending strength will live forever.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters Bobbie (Harold) Owens and Bettye (Ray) Purvis, brothers J.T. Harrington Jr, John Harrington, and Horace Harrington.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Catherine McFarland (Charles Davis), son Michael (Trisha) McFarland, grandchildren Madison and Trent McFarland, brother Harvey (Mary) Harrington, and her nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haven Hospice.
