Mary Jane Crowe's Obituary
Mary Jane Crowe, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 19, 2018 at Haven Hospice, Gainesville, FL after a short illness. Mary was born in Tifton, GA on June 23, 1930 while her parents were visiting family.
She was raised in Jacksonville, FL moving to Starke, FL after retirement, and then to Gainesville in 2001. In 2012, she moved to her last earthly home at Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Mayo, FL.
She was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Elizabeth Brack; sisters, Sadie Brack, Bernice Staton, Lavonia Williams; her brother, Charles Brack, and her beloved granddaughter, Bethani Ridenour.
Surviving siblings are her sister, Betty Stewart and brother, Joseph Brack. Mary is also survived by her six children, Andrea Pinkston, Wayne B. (Mary Alice) Dennis, Darlene Ridenour, Edward (Karmel) Crowe, Tammy (Billy) Luper, and Michael (Rhonda) Crowe, along with 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mary loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To the grands and great-grands she was affectionally known as “Granny Crowe”. She was an excellent cook, avid reader and enjoyed her flowers and most especially family gatherings. When her children were young, she enjoyed taking them on long hikes in Whitehouse, FL.
Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23, which she recited during her last ER visit. She is with Jesus now and we rejoice she is in her eternal home. A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Children of North Central Florida, P.O. Box 358502, Gainesville, FL 32635, which supports the LaCrosse campus of the Florida Baptist Children’s Home.
