Mary Catherine (Catnip) Nipper's Obituary
Mary Catherine (Catnip) Nipper, passed away on Tuesday evening, July 18. 2023. She was born August 15, 1942. She was 80 years old. At the time of her passing, she was doing what she loved; out in the yard pulling up weeds. The only thing she loved other than being outside and pulling weeds, was children. Every child she was around for more than 5 minutes she claimed as her own. She was everyone’s “Favorite Aunt.” She was unique and tried to help everyone she could. Most of our family and friends have benefited from her generosity.
She was an excellent seamstress and love to do fine needle work: both counted cross stich and embroidery. She was an avid Gator fan, and her last job was working at the UF as an Administrative Assistant. She graduated from Newberry High School and had taken some college courses.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Calvin Nipper, her mother, Annie Mae Phillips Nipper, her brothers; Dan Samuel Alsobrook, Uncle Dan; James Calvin Nipper, Jr. (Jimbo); Gene Autry Nipper, Cowboy. Her sisters who preceded her in death were; Jimmy Ortiz, Varise Brunner, Faye Alsobrook Hunter, and Betty Jean Colson.
She is survived by one brother, Charles M. Nipper (Slick) and one sister Madge Nipper (Magic One). Plus she also has numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of life/Memorial Service on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 10 AM at the City of Newberry Municipal Building.
