Mary Baggett Landsman's Obituary
Mary Baggett Landsman, a long-time resident of Gainesville, passed away quietly at home in Bethesda, Maryland, on Friday, December 9. She was buried at Gainesville’s B’nai Israel Cemetery next to her beloved husband Theodore Landsman, who was a professor at the University of Florida.
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, she came to Gainesville to pursue her doctorate in Education from the University of Florida. After receiving her Ed.D, she became the Alachua County Supervisor of Instruction in reading and then taught at Santa Fe Community College. With her close friend Bliz Feldherr she also ran a catering business and bake store named In Good Taste.
Mary was an avid birder, who travelled throughout the world and was always excited to add a new lifetime bird to her list. She frequently spent time in the summer with her stepchildren and grandchildren.
She is survived by her stepchildren Moshe Landsman (Leah Shakdiel), Sandra Landsman Medlin (Michael Medlin), and Kim Landsman; grandchildren Tsufit, David, Ariel, Ruti, Rachel, Zvi, Pinchas, Erin, Theodore, and Jacob; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved by all of them and will be missed.
