Marrianne M. DeBolt's Obituary
Marrianne DeBolt, 94, of Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 22, 2025 at the Hospice of Marion County E.W. & Lucille Cates House. Marrianne was born September 2, 1930, in Sandusky, OH to Mary Stephan Fegyak and Andrew Fegyak. Marrianne was their middle child.
Marrianne's father died when she was just seven years old. This was during the Great Depression, when times were very difficult, and so she learned to work hard from an early age. Marrianne helped care for her younger brother while their mother worked full-time, dug scrap rubber out of Sandusky Bay which she hauled in a wagon to sell for the wartime effort, and worked for Voegel's Cake Decorating Company, making decorations and serving as a nanny and family assistant. She then went to work as a secretary at Diamond Fertilizer Company, where she met the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) DeBolt. They were married in 1953. Shortly thereafter, she and Chuck moved to Florida, first to Jacksonville, then Edgewater and Ocala, and finally to Gainesville, where they raised their family and resided for 59 years. Marrianne was a member of St. Patrick and Holy Faith Catholic Churches in Gainesville for many years. She was a member of the Women's Club, several Garden Circles, and she and Chuck were instrumental in forming the Gainesville chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, back when NAMI first began. Marrianne participated in many charitable organizations over the years, delivering food to food banks, helping with clothing drives, and raising mental health awareness. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, hostess, traveler, and cook. How she prepared such delicious and healthy food night after night, all perfectly timed and piping hot was a marvel. Marrianne loved to visit Florida's beautiful beaches and did so up until she was 92 years old.
Marrianne is survived by her husband of 71 years, Charles E. DeBolt, daughters Jacquelyn Holcomb (Phil) of Summerfield, FL, and Ann DeBolt (Roger Rosenfreter) of Boise, ID, sons Mark C. DeBolt Sr. (Dina) and Tim DeBolt, both of Ocala. She is also survived by her brother William E. Fegyak (Carol) of Ft. Pierce, FL, two grandchildren (Mark DeBolt Jr., Nicole Hoskins), both of Ocala, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and step-father Harold Wiesenauer, Marrianne was preceded in death by her brother Norbert Fegyak (1994), Sandusky, OH.
Memorial services to honor the life of Marrianne DeBolt will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville. Interment will be in Countryside Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the many wonderful caregivers from Hospice of Marion County, particularly Cairn, Heather and Laura this past year, caregivers too numerous to name at Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle Senior Living Facility, where Marrianne resided the past four years, and for the last three weeks of care she received at the E.W. & Lucille Cates House, especially from Linda, Cindy, Jocelyn, Victoria, Suzette, Daisy, Melody, Augusta and more. Memorial donations can be made to NAMI Marion County, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hospice of Marion County, or a charity of your choice.
