Mark Richard Gruver's Obituary
Mark Richard Gruver, 69, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on December 31, 2023. He was born on October 19, 1954, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Mark was a devoted husband, loving father, and a cherished member of his community.
Mark's passion for gardening led him to earn a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Santa Fe College. For over 30 years, he worked as a salesman in the nursery industry, sharing his knowledge and love for plants with others. Mark found joy in meticulously detailing his truck or van, preparing them for car shows. He had a deep appreciation for music and would always have it playing in the background while tending to his garden or working on his beloved cars.
Mark is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jean, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind his sister Bethany (David) Evans, brother Rex (Gail) Gruver, son Eric Gruver, stepson Matthew (Marissa) Barber, Aunt Marcia Miller, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Daryl and Janice Miller Gruver.
Mark's faith was an important aspect of his life, and he found solace in attending Holy Faith Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Haven Hospice, The American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice. Contributions to these organizations will honor Mark's memory and support causes that were close to his heart.
Mark Richard Gruver will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His dedication to his passions, his love for his family, and his warm presence will be remembered fondly. May he rest in peace.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Faith Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hardeetown Methodist Cemetery in Chiefland.
