Mark Edward Frierson's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, but ones also full of love and gratitude, that we announce the passing of Mark Edward Frierson of Alachua who passed away in Gainesville on Wednesday October 15th, 2025 at the age of 82. Born to Paul and Elizabeth Frierson on September 3rd, 1943 in New Port Richey, Florida, Mark was raised in Gainesville from an early age with his older siblings Judy and John. Graduating from Gainesville High School in 1961he became a Police Officer, first with Gainesville Police Department and later with the Alachua County Sheriffs Office during the 1960s. He was drafted for service in Vietnam in late 1967 and served honorably for one year in country before being discharged in April of 1969. Mark married the love of his life, Janet Blackmon, in 1967. He had one child, Mark Edward Frierson Jr., born in 1964 from a previous marriage, and later had two other sons with his wife Janet, Robert in 1973 and Todd in 1982. For most of his adult life Mark worked as an auto mechanic in Gainesville before retiring in 2003. Mark was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and immensely enjoyed riding all over the country with Janet riding along on the back. Mark is preceded in death by his son Mark Edward Jr. and grandson Christian Frierson. He is survived by his sister Judy Crawford, brother John Frierson, wife Janet Frierson, sons Robert and Todd Frierson as well as his grandchildren Alanna, Spenser, Ava and Cameron. The memorial service with honors for Mark will be held at Canvas Church in Alachua on Monday October 27th, 2025 at 10 AM.
