Mark Morchel was an incredibly good man. I will never forget him. Thank you for being an honest, caring soul, Mark. You brought light into dark places.
Hi there to all … I have fond fond memories of Mark from many years ago … heck he he used to date my sister Cheryl. I had worked on many shows at Saint Peter’s College in the attic ensemble with Mark before leaving New Jersey myself to become an actor in Los Angeles. Mark was a wonderful role model and was enthusiastic about theater and later in life about painting I guess I’ve lost touch with him but somewhere in a box I have pictures of him along with me and other people working on shows like Arsenic and Old Lace Where I got to play Mortimer, Brewster and Joe Lane (Nathan) Lane Broadway star played Teddy Roosevelt. During the show, the flat fell down the curtains closed and I heard banging of a hammer it was Mark fixing the flat while the audience laughed. Mark had been at my childhood home many times. It was much loved by my mother and father Dick and Jean Lodge on 89 Patterson St. When I was a freshman and attended St. Peter prep, he being my sister‘s boyfriend met me there as a very, very nervous young 14-year-old and gave the grand tour of Saint with some other seniors, making us feel at home. I don’t know who’s gonna read this… But I have tears in my eyes for many years that have passed and I feel sad that I didn’t keep more in touch with Mark. He was really dedicated to theater. He would often do the hard work at the old drug factory Penick Bldg of storing all the sets. The best thing I can say is… He was a good guy. As I said, coming full circle now as an actor, I owe him a debt of gratitude . Miss you, Mark . David Lodge , Los Angeles, CA April 15, 2024
I’m so very sorry to learn of Mark’s passing. My sincere condolences to Maureen and his children. Mark was a colleague, ally and friend when I work in Hudson County. He had a compassion for social justice and always used his influence to bend government to what was morally correct. Mark, you will not be forgotten. RIP.
Mark's passing is such stunningly sad news that it unnerves me completely. Before this, I never imagined the sudden passing of such a talented, humorous, complete and relatively young person moving on from this life. You. Maureen and your daughters have my deepest concern and sympathy. I have no profound pronouncements on this except to imagine what Mark himself might say: "Depart the stage while they still want you..." Godspeed, good man...
Maureen, Colleen, Elizabeth, Laura, and Grace, I so seldom go on Facebook these days, and was shocked and saddenend to hear this awful news. I knew Mark in college and did two productions with this talented guy. Funny, smart and wise beyound his years. Most of all, a gentleman. The highest compiment that can be given. His memory will live on with so many. Joe Malloy
I'm truly sorry to hear about Mark. I never got to meet him in person, but we were both fb friends in the Gainesville Burger Club. He used to tell me how great fresh White Castle burgers were from N.J., and once offered to send me some next time he was up there. I'm glad I got to know him at least through the internet, he had a huge heart. My sincerest condolences to his family. - Jay Hogsette
Mark Morchel was the most encouraging man I’ve ever known. I owe my deep appreciation for art (in all of its forms) to him. He took me to plays, concerts (loud ones) fairs, carnivals with Grace when we were younger. I lost my dad and stepdad very early in my life and he was a strong father figure to me. He always told me that I was talented, that I had something special in me. I’ll always hold onto those words. I have the fondest memories and I will never forget him. My sincerest condolences to Maureen, Colleen, Elizabeth, Laura, and Grace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. I have wonderful memories of growing up with Mark, many great times at “the lake.”
