Marjorie Holder Parrish's Obituary
Marjorie Holder Parrish, a precious child of God, passed from this life on August 25, 2022, after having been blessed with 102 years. Born on July 17, 1920, to Alonzo Eugene and Elsie Miller Holder, she always had a special love for family and shown through the annual Holder Family reunion held on the 4th of July weekend which was started by her parents 70 years ago at the family home in Crystal River, Fla. At her death, she remained the matriarch of the family.
She was a true Southern lady who loved and served God all of her life. Her devotion to the lord was exemplified in her loving kindness and her supportive nature. She was a wonderful wife and mother who never raised her voice or spoke a foul word, passing on to her family the importance of faith and love. She loved to cook and was a gracious hostess who knew how to make everyone feel right at home with the offer of a delicious meal or a slice of her famous homemade pies.
She and her husband were true sweethearts, and until his passing, they went for a nightly walk, always holding hands. She also loved her four-legged friends, and her gentle touch and kind spirit were felt by them as well.
She enjoyed attending church and contributing to worship by playing the piano. She was a lifelong Baptist, first in Miami, where she became acquainted with a pastor who was just beginning his career named Charles Stanley. Later she belong to the First Baptist Church of Franklin N.C. and at the time of her death was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Scott (Gary) of Franklin, N.C., and Karen Freas (Gordon – deceased) of Newberry, Fla.; her grandchildren, Darbi (Jason) Jamie, Stephanie (Rick), Douglas (Kristin), Gregg (Michelle), and Kelly (Kevin); twelve great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her husband, Cairo Clifton Parrish; daughter Sandra Kay; her parents; two brothers.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, Florida with Rev. David Chauncey officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
