I remember when "Miss Turk" came to High Springs. She rented a room from one of the sweetest ladies in our neighborhood, Mrs. Ellis. Later, I remember her and Mr. Spencer
marrying. As a High School student at SFHS I thought that was pretty cool, two teachers getting married. They were so sweet. In later years I would attend Alachua High School reunions with my Mother and Father. My Mother, Mary Delle Pendley Welch, was a classmate of Arthur's. During those reunion weekends the Spencers' would open their home to the classmates and spouses/guests and we would have a wonderful time of fellowship, laughter and always a good meal and bonfire. One special time I remember was when the reunion fell near Christmas. Everyone gathered around the piano as Mrs. Spencer played Carols. She asked me to sit with her "like old times in elementary chorus". I was so touched.
I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Spencer always had a smile for you. She was one of the sweetest, most precious people I have ever known.
