Marilyn Margery (Mills) Nitz's Obituary
Marilyn Margery (Mills) Nitz passed away on July 25, 2017 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL. She was 80 years old and had lived in Gainesville since 1998.
Marilyn passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving husband Donald and precious sons eldest Stephen (and daughter-in-law Kathie) from Southbury CT and youngest son Martin from Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
She was born on September 29, 1936 in Pana, IL. Her parents were Leona (Parker) Mills and Rainey Mills. Marilyn was blessed with five siblings comprised of brothers Parker, William (pre-deceased), Norman and Gary and little sister Linda (Mills) Hemphill (pre-deceased).
Marilyn married Donald Nitz in March 1957 in Chicago, IL. They began their married life in Calumet City, IL. In 1967 they moved with their young sons to Munster, IN where they lived until retiring and moving to Gainesville, FL in 1998. Marilyn worked for many years as the Director of Purchasing at Munster Community Hospital and later at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Marilyn was known for her intelligence, sense of humor, fun loving spirit, resiliency and kindness towards others. She loved to play Scrabble, mahjong and card games with friends and family.
Marilyn always said that the greatest joys in her life were her two loving sons Steve and Marty. She adored them from their first breath to her last.
We will always hold her memory in each of our hearts and she will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her.
