Marilyn and Don Cook were great friends in the 1970s when Don was a math professor at Appalachian State University. Don took my son under his wing and at the University when Miles was barely in high school and gave him access (I think) to computers in the early transitional days when computers were just emerging in potential, Marilyn was always amiable and hospitable in her home. I think a good relationship was developing between my son and their sons. was unhappy they moved away but I am sure they found and caused happiness in their Georgia circle of friends.
My sympathy to the family. I loved Marilyn and family. My love to Bob and Bill. Your 8th Grade Science teacher is almost 92 years old, but I remember you all well. !! đź’•
Thanks to everyone who has posted. In the obituary, I should have mentioned that Marilyn's Father, Ray Stimmel remarried Julia McClure, who was a good stepmother (and grandmother!) - and the couple had another son, Randy McClure Stimmel and were close to the LaVerne family from Knoxville, Tennessee.
Bob, so sorry to hear of Marilyn’s passing. Your parents and grandmother were very dear to me, but I especially loved your mom. She was a most favorite patient and friend-
Her dental appointments were always much longer than most, as every appointment she wanted to know everything that was going on with my family and children. She cared very deeply and expressed such interest and joy in hearing about them throughout the many years I knew her. She kept up with where they were and what they were doing and always remembered so much detail about each of them.
I have missed them both since they left, so much, and I will especially never forget her wonderful laugh. She was truly a joyful person and a true delight to have known. My thoughts are with you and your family. Drew Sandbach
Marilyn shared her kind and loving heart with those that knew her. She loved to watch game shows, and of course Columbo, which I enjoyed sharing those times with her. She loved viewing the slides of her family as they grew up, incredible trips they took and the special occasions. I will be forever grateful for being blessed by sharing this special times with her. Rest In Heavenly Peace
