Marilyn Winters Cangro's Obituary
Marilyn Winters Cangro, age 83 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015. She was born December 29, 1931 in Staten Island, New York to Benjamin Hamilton and Hortense Adrienne Carroll Winters.
She was a graduate of St. Peters Catholic High School in Staten Island. She was an active member in Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a strong supporter of St. Frances Catholic High School. With her husband she lived many years in Europe and South America.
Mrs. Cangro was an avid golfer and played courses in Europe, South America and Haile. She loved crafting and decorating. As a young girl she studied under a New York artist the skill of Fine China painting. She created many unique pieces over the years for her family and for special events. While in Brazil she became a skilled needle worker and created several tapestries depicting Brazilian scenes. She loved cruising, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her grandson, Antonio held a special place in her heart for his caring and gentle way and she reveled in times spent shopping with her granddaughter Anna and listening to her sing.
She will be sorely missed by Lynn’s dogs, Boots, Lady, Thriller and Cooper who brought her so much love and attention.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vincent Cangro and brother, William Winters of Cape May, NJ.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles B. Cangro (Jeanne) of Phoenix, MD; daughter, Marilyn A. Cangro Belo (Antonio) of Gainesville, FL; brothers, Dr. Benjamin Winters of Cheverly, MD, Stephen X. Winters of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Antonio and Anna Belo.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Fr. Kazimierz Ligeza as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Catholic High School or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
