Marilyn Rosemary Miller Bishop's Obituary
Marilyn Rosemary Miller Bishop, 83, went to sing with the angels on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. She was born in Lakeland on September 10, 1942, to Albert Hiers Miller and Rosalie Hawthorne Miller.
A graduate of Gainesville High School, Class of 1960, she was a lifelong resident of Gainesville and a proud fourth-generation Floridian. Marilyn cherished her family lineage and heritage and was a longtime member of the Gainesville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Southern Dames of America. She loved music and treasured the friendships she made singing with the “Sweet Notes” choral group.
She will be remembered as a lifelong Christian woman of strong and abiding faith.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Rodney Bishop; her parents; and her brother and sister-in-law, Charles J. and Catrina Thomas Miller.
She is survived by her sons, Kelly Bishop and Tracy Bishop, both of Gainesville; her sisters, Rosalyn “Roz” Miller of Gainesville and Virginia Miller (Michael) Fettes of Gainesville; Ken & Sevilla Bishop (brother/sister in law) of Lady Lake; her niece, Fiona Miller Lama (Mark DiCicco) of Gainesville; and a host of beloved Miller and Bishop family members.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home - Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville.
Funeral services to honor Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Meadow East Cemetery, 3700 SE Hawthorne Road. A reception will follow at the home of Mike and Virginia Fettes.
