I knew Margaret as a co-volunteer worker on the Florida Trail. I met and worked under her direction at my very first activity. She was a good and inspiring teacher who led me into many years of work in this activity.
Unfortunately, I never learned much about her personal background. Reading the obituary of her amazing early life, growing up on a ranch, the many things she did other than help build a trail, revealed to me much of how she became the person I knew: forthright, direct, always hard working, tough, interested in learning new things and people, and fully devoted to causes she believed in. Margaret was a real person. Knowing a person of such strong character was a privilege.
Surely she will Rest in Peace. Condolences to her family on their loss of a remarkable loved one.
