Marc Edward Trahan's Obituary
Marc Edward Trahan, age 56, of Gainesville died unexpectedly Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his home. He was born June 5, 1961 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Paul Eugene and Lucille Gouin Trahan. He retired from the Gainesville Police Department as a Forensic Investigator after 30 years, and just recently coauthored a book about the history of GPD. After his retirement, he was a reserve officer at High Springs Police Department, and he was a lead instructor at the CSI Academy in Alachua. He was a Cub Scout Leader of Troop 82. At one point, he was chaplain of FOP, treasurer of GPD Retirement Association, and helped run the Annual Police Memorial Ceremony in Alachua County. He enjoyed camping, hiking, reading, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Sturgill; sons, Travis Harrison Sturgill-Trahan and Scott Andrew Sturgill-Trahan (Grayson); brother, Kevin Trahan, and sisters, Melissa Pitts and Tammy Yoho. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lucille Trahan, his brother, Brian Trahan, and nephew, Shawn Yoho.
A Celebration of Marc’s Life will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Alachua County Law Enforcement Memorial, FOP Gator Lodge 67, 3301 N Main Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32609.
