Madeline T. Lanzner's Obituary
Madeline T. Lanzner of Gainesville, FL, age 91, born May 16, 1925, passed away on February 6, 2017. She is survived by her daughter Shareina and grandson William. She was preceded in death by her husband William Lanzner, step-son Charles, parents, Chester and Mary, brother Chester and sisters Eleanor, Marion and Doris.
She was born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Madeline was the great-granddaughter of Michael Deegan who "rode down the valley death" with his comrades at the siege of Sevastopol (as referenced in the poem 'The Charge of the Light Brigade').
Madeline was not only an active member of her church, but also an avid blood donor having donated 15 gallons over the course of her life. In addition, she loved to knit and make stuffed bears for charity and children in the hospital. Madeline was adored by her husband William who she was married to for 65 years. Madeline and Bill loved cruises and traveling all over America having visited all 50 states. Having moved to Winter Park with Bill in 1970, she had always considered Florida her home.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., in Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society 2119 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
