Mabel B. Lee's Obituary
Mabel B. Lee, age 96 of Gainesville passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022. She was born February 27, 1926 in Moodys Crossroads, Alabama to George Marshall and Mollie Crowe Ball.
Mrs. Lee lived in Gainesville for many years, raising her children there and working as a store clerk, most notably Belk Lindsey, Diana Shops and the Bible and Book Store in downtown Gainesville. She eventually moved to the quiet environs of Fairbanks, just north of Gainesville, where she lived for 25 years. For a while she lived in Hawthorne with her daughter Marsha, and where she made many friends. Due to failing health, she returned to Gainesville for 7 years to live with her son James (Jimmy), where her friend and companion Edee Depeza took wonderful, loving care of her. Due to continuing decline in her health she moved to Palm Garden Health and rehab Center where she lived for 3 years making many friends, and enjoying her life there. She loved the staff there, and they in turn loved her.
Mabel is survived her daughter, Marsha Lee of Williston; sons, James E Lee (David Scoates) of Gainesville and David Lee (Barbara) of Villa Rica, GA. Also survived by grandaughters April Aycock (Chris), Caren (Dan) and Angie Dillinger. She is also survived by many other friends that she loved and adored, all of who will greatly miss her beautiful smiling face.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, James Owen Lee, Jr., sister, Eunice Inzer; and grandson, Justin Lee.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairbanks Cemetery, 7822 Northeast Waldo Road, Gainesville with pastor Donna Day officiating. Please visit her memorial page at www.williamsthomasfuneralhome.com.
