Lydia Salem Hogue's Obituary
Hogue, Lydia Salem 17
Lydia Salem Hogue, age 17 of Gainesville, was lost to us after battling a life long illness on Saturday January 10, 2015. She was born October 10, 1997 in Eugene, Oregon and made friends all over the country including Washington, Arizona and Arkansas.
Lydia was blessed by two sets of parents that love her, Charity Hogue and Chris Durbin of Gainesville, Florida and Joseph Goddard and Gail Green of Eugene, Oregon. She is also survived by her grandparents, Emma Whitchurch and Greg Ivy as well as all the friends that became her family.
Lydia, a junior at Buchholz High School, was a member of the Academy of Finance program and the Drama Club. The very first time Lydia stepped on the stage she became hooked on musical theatre. Her family and friends will never forget her beautiful voice, determination and "Broadway belts" as well as her infectious laugh and smile.
A poet at heart, Lydia loved to write stories and monologues that touched people, to perform in class. Lydia enjoyed Cosplay conventions, video games and being herself; Even if that meant painting cat whiskers on her face and bouncing around town in her Dr. Who fez and bowtie.
A celebration of her life will be held at Napolatanos, in the gardens, at 606 NW 75th Street Gainesville, Florida 32607 on Saturday, January 17 2015 at 5pm. Family and friends will have a chance to share stories of their time with Lydia at 6pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her name to either the Buchholz Drama department, 5510 NW 27th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32606 or the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 8701 Georgia Ave., #412, Silver Springs, MD 20910.
