To All of the Below Family,
Thinking of you and praying for your comfort and peace. God gave your Mom, your Grandma, the gift of such a long and fulfilled life! My memories of her were at North Central Baptist Church when I was growing up. Her life centered around her family and the church. A kind hearted lady, she served in a variety of church activities. Every Sunday she could be found making a joyful noise as a faithful choir member who loved to sing. I'm sure she gained a lot of wisdom throughout her years and that whenever she shared a piece of it with you, you were blessed! Stay strong as a family and support each other in your grief. God's amazing grace will see you through.

Dear Family,
This is Jessi Daughter of June (Mom) and Kenny. We very much wanted to be there today but physically couldn't be there. I am still in a wheelchair after 6 and a half months, and learning how to walk again, and my vitals kinda got very bad this morning due to POTS and Adrenal Failure. I had to just know she was in Heaven and would understand our circumstances. She will always be my Grandma Lu and Mom's Mama Lu. I will miss so many things, but "Hug Around the Neck" I will miss the most hearing her sing to me. We watched the service and it was beautiful. Hey Beau, you may have gotten the 7 year old ice cream sandwiches I got the 100 year old ice cream with flat root beer float. But I drank it down like it was the best ever just to see that smile. I love you all and Ruthie I have been trying to get your number since my fall and was in the hospital 20 plus days and Rehab were I met my wheelchair, and the joints there in your thumb have gotten red, Anyway, It was January 26th and I went to get water and fell and it just crushed my leg, quite literally, And still not walking, but it will be a long road. Then Mattie our furbaby of 17 years died about four weeks after I got home. She was a love and Grandma Lu loved hearing about her and if we could have snuck her in to see Her we would have. But not recommended. lol But I had a black out about two weeks ago, the same thing that led to me breaking my leg and ending up in 4 hour major surgery. I blacked out and hit the floor and my head took the brunt. So I have two black eyes. Dad called to let me know she had passed. But never knew the arrangements but were happy to watch such a beautiful service. It truly was beautiful and we cried right along with you. We would love to hear from any of you. Sorry this is so long, Ruthie hang in there Hun. And Mary and Art I have my mug with Pat and Beau sitting with me when I was about 8 and it is at the sink so I see it every day, And Dad you look more like your Dad every day. I will keep that close to my heart always. When I get discouraged about walking and have set back's I think of Her and all she instilled in us to keep plugging along.
Another fond memory I have is Mom and I had gone to one one of her concerts at the Village and then went up to her room, we all got in the elevator and are chatting and thinking boy this is the smoothest ride ever. In which Grandma Lu replied "You gotta hit the button Jessi." lol
I love everyone and please keep in touch. She wouldn't want things to end. She is all what we wish we could live up too.

Lucy Below’s home was one of the loveliest places in my childhood. I remember a whole lot of giggling, and jumping, and running around, and hide and seek, and sliding on soap bubbles under the carport — and Aunt Lu, grinning and making little jokes under her breath.

I watched Lucille and Chuck, and made mental notes about what a mutually respectful marriage might look like.

I saw my mother celebrate with her big sister, Lucille, and run to her for comfort in sorrow and devastation.

Lucille's home was a safe place for me because she was a safe person for me — kind, hard-working, spiritual, funny … and always safe.

I’m so grateful for the great and gratuitous gift we got when God gave us Lucy Below. I think I want to be like her when I grow up.
