Louise Margaret Leitner Harris' Obituary
Louise Margaret Leitner Harris, 98, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015. Louise was born to George W. and Janie Margaret Wylie Leitner in Shiloh, Florida on February 9, 1917. After graduating from Reddick High School, she drove a Model T Ford to Ocala to business school and various jobs before starting her job with the University of Florida IFAS in 1940. Louise worked for the University for 47 years before retiring. Louise was a very active member at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, where she was a past officer of Fidelis Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, church and family gatherings, and cooking. She was known for her potato salad and cheese balls.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Lavoyd V. Harris, and by her brother, G. P. Leitner. She is survived by her two sons, G. Marion Harris (Judy) and Tom V. Harris (Claudia), both of Gainesville; grandchildren, Karen Tilly, Kyle Harris, Heather Harris, and Todd Harris; and great grandchildren, Brenden Tilly, Kaitlyn Tilly, and Amelia Harris.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10:00am in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 N. Main Street, with Dr. John Fairless officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park East. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Shiloh United Methodist Church or First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
