Louise Spivey Atkinson Harrell's Obituary
Louise Spivey Atkinson Harrell, age 89 of Gainesville, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. Louise was born February 1, 1926 in Dodge County, Georgia to Chester and Gladys Roland Spivey. She moved to Florida in 1946. Her first job was at Sportsmen’s Haven Fish Camp in Cross Creek. She worked as a cottage parent at Tacachale and retired after 15 years. Taking care of people was her life. In her free time she loved playing Bingo, bird watching, gardening and the Gators. Louise was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Mae Hopkins; son, Bobby Atkinson and brother, Eddie Flanders Sr.
She is survived by her children, Rudy Atkinson (Della), Eugene Atkinson (Joyce), Frankie Atkinson (Rose), Jerry Atkinson, Stanley Harrell (Wannell), Billy Atkinson (Dot) and Gladys Silas and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Terrace Health and Rehabilitation for such good care.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at Eden Baptist Church, 2405 SE County Road 219A, with Pastor Jim Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorne Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 2, 2015, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME HAWTHORNE, US 301 South at Lake Avenue.
