Loretta Pauline Massey's Obituary
Loretta Pauline Massey
Loretta Pauline Massey, 75, resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Monday, May 19, 2014, in the Tri-County Nursing Home, Trenton, following a long illness.
Mrs. Massey was a native of Clarksville, Tennessee, born March 21, 1939 to the late Raymond and Roxie Abbott. She came to Florida over 50 years ago, settling in Gainesville, where she met her husband, Mr. James William Massey Sr., to whom she was married for many years, prior to his death in 1999. Mrs. Massey was a bookkeeper, working for several doctors in Gainesville, and for Hibiscus Realty in St. Augustine, where she and her family had a second home. Late in life she lost her sight, and one of her greatest joys became listening to books on tape, and working on family genealogy.
The family would like to thank the staff of Tri-County Nursing Home, for the care and concern extended to Mrs. Massey in her final days.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Peggy Massey, of Gainesville; two grandsons, James Massey, III, and Alex Mansolo, both of Gainesville; sister, Mary Baskin, of Clarksville, TN.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 4:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., with Dr. Don McGarity, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Volusia County Library, Books on Tape Program, 1290 Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
